Medical Waste Disposal Fees to Increase

When wads of gauze, needles and other medical debris washed up on the Jersey Shore, the beaches had to be shut down. The biohazard was too great, and they had to remain closed until the mess could be cleaned up. After an investigation, it was found that a Pennsylvania dentist had dumped his practice’s waste materials into an inlet near Avalon. They had eventually floated downstream until they ended on the Jersey Shore.

This recent event has caused lawmakers to create a stiffer penalty for those who choose to dump their waste into the ocean. Some violations of waste disposal regulations could result in $100,000 worth of fines. This could mean an increase in the prices at which a dentist offers his or her services. For more information about how these waste disposal regulations will affect you, talk to your local dentist today!
